Vmukti is an open source alternative to proprietary web conferencing packages like WebEx and GoToMeeting . Company releases its Beta 2.0 in June 1 2008 of their on-premise solution.
Today the company is releasing a Community version of that solution that requires no setup to use – not even a browser plug-in like other offerings for vista users. CEO Hardik Sanghvi says by getting rid of plug-ins, Vmukti will be more accessible to those who are either technically un-savvy or wary of installing 3rd-party software online.
The Social community site would have web conferencing experience has the same functionality as the on-premise one, except that companies can’t customize it to look like their websites. Vmukti can be used to run slideshow presentations, hold collaborative freehand drawing sessions, chat (in groups or privately), along with doing all other things which any other community site.
The free version of the product has no limitation for simultaneous users. Company also said community site will be supported by advertisements. For the Organization, Vmukti says that its on-premise solution has been downloaded over 100000 times in around 100 countries.
